Born in 1910, Sir Misha Black OBE was a British designer and architect. His works include the moquette originally used by London Transport in the late 70s onwards, the external styling of British Railways Southern region British Rail Class 71 trains and most notably, the iconic design of the Westminster street signs.

Still seen today on some of the most famous streets in the city these instantly-recognisable signs have a timeless style and simplicity that makes them popular amongst locals and tourists.
